icons of the South African weighing industry for over 40 years.
He founded
Mass Measuring Systems in 1971 and has grown the company from
humble beginnings to become Southern Africa's largest scale
company. Mr Kilian is a true captain of industry and continues
grow Mass Measuring Systems by understanding not only customer
requirement, but industry requirements.
Danie
Van de Westhuizen
(Sales Director)
Heading up the sales division at Mass Measuring Systems for over
10 years, Danie has remained ahead of the pack and has kept Mass
Measuring Systems sales book well populated.
Vincent
De Hooge
(Financial Director)
Vincent started his career as an internal auditor, after gaining a firm
foundation, he then decided to progress into external auditing upon
completing his articles and degree. Vincent has been in commerce
for the past 20 years in various industries, working in
positions from management cost accounting to financial
accounting, implementing internal control systems, financial
systems and maintaining those systems. Vincent has now been with
Mass Measuring Systems for the last three years, heading up the
finance division. He finds the scale industry a diverse,
exciting industry, always challenging with new innovative
products and technology. It has been a challenging task to get
to know the products and its specifications, and has definitely
been a position of progression and personal achievement.
Werner
Fourie
("E" Engineering Director)
Werner has
been with Masskot Scales for a number of years, he has recently
been promoted to the prestigious position of "E" Engineering
Director
Al De
Almeida
(Operations Director
Mozambique)
Al Started his career as an apprentice in January 1968 based in
Salisbury, Rhodesia. He obtained distinctions in his apprentice
examinations and was placed as one of the top 5 in the world.
In the last year of his apprenticeship, Al led the way by
opening a branch in Lorenco Marques. In 1979 after making a
success of the branch in Lorenco Marques he transferred East
London. He took up a position as workshop manager. With a firm
understanding of the intricacies of the scale industry Al moved
into specialist technical sales in the retail and industrial
sectors and was promoted to regional sales representative in
Port Elizabeth. After successfully building the sales book in
the region Al’s potential was recognized and he was moved to
Johannesburg to the Specialist Technical Sales division as Sales
Manager for industrial products. He was again promoted to
Commercial Manager after a while a new division was opened to
promote sales in Africa. Al took the challenge and headed the
division as Export Sales and Marketing Manager. Al left this
company for a new challenge to open a new Export Division. 12
years later Al again looked for a new challenge with Mass
Measuring Systems and created a new division to promote sales
into Africa as Export Sales Manager. Al will be instrumental
in the set up of the Maputo based branch in Mozambique.
Johan
Lotter
(Service Manager)
Johan has 24 years experience and is very
highly trained in the weighing industry. He started his career
at Iscor with the trade and metrology department as an
instrument technician. With in three years Johan grew from
strength to strength where he moved to Iscor Mining and was
promoted to Master Instrumentation Mechancian. Mass Measuring
Systems later took a keen interest in Johan and offered him the
position of National Service Manager responsible for the entire
Mass Measuring Service Department.
Leon
Smith
(Branch Manager Cape Town)
Leon started his career in 1982 by joining
the South African Air force as an instrumentation technician.
After 8 years in the defence force Leon excelled to such an
extent that one of South Africa's blue chip company's (Denel)
decided to bring him on board. He built a sound foundation at
Denel throughout the 9 years that he spent as one of their top
instrument technicians. Leon showed a vast amount of technical
skill and he decided that he would put his technical know how to
better use by joining Masskot Scale as a specialist sales
representative. Leon's skills were put to good use and within a
few short years the directors of Masskot Scale decided it was
time that Leon was made branch manager. Leon has successfully
served as Masskot Cape Town's branch manager for over 3 years.
Charlie
Nelson
(Production Service Manager)
Charlie has specialized in the manufacture, design and
engineering of all types of scales and weighbridges for over 20
years. We are proud to say that Charlie could be considered as
the top weighbridge-manufacturing expert in Southern Africa.
Nieta
Horn
(Branch Manager Upington)
Nieta
joined the Masskot Scale team in 2007 as the Branch
Administrator at the Upington Branch. Gou het die skaal gogga
haar gebyt. Nieta se honger na meer kennis het veroorsaak dat sy
gedurende 2009 die eerste vrou geword het om Verifikasie
offisier te word in Masskot / Nieta’s "crave" for more knowledge
was the key for her becoming the first female verification
officer at Masskot Scale. During 2010 Neita was appointed branch
manager at Upington Branch. "As jy nie weeg nie sal jy nie weet

Marius
Heydenreich
(Branch Manager Mid/Wit)
Marius has 24 years experience and is very
highly trained in the weighing industry as well as the coal mine
industry. He served in top positions as National Training
Manager, Service Engineer, Maintenance Manager and Regional
Service Manager. He managed operational teams of over 240
employees across multiple geographic regions. These regions
included South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Malawi,
Botswana, Swaziland, Maputo and Sudan. He represented the
company at management level in Dubai and Italia. He is very well
connected with all the large industries, mines ,power stations ,
sugar mills and retail stores in South Africa and other Africa
countries. Marius started his career in the Weighing business in
1983 which has given him a firm foundation on leading the
Business at Mass Measuring Systems.
Craig
Van Heerden
(Branch Manager Durban)
Craig has over 26 years experience in both technical and sales
divisions of the scale industry. He started his career as a
technical engineer in the retail sector. Being a fast learner
and growing from strength to strength Craig gained vast amounts
of knowledge and experience thus leading him to diversify into
the Industrial sector. To date Craig has experience in multiple
disciplines across multiple brands of the scale industry. Craig
now heads up Masskot Scales Durban covering the entire
KwaZulu-Natal region.
Peter
Visser
(Quality Manager)
Pieter has over 35 years of experience in the production and
quality fields of the automotive and armaments industries. He
joined Mass Measuring Systems four years ago as Quality Manager.
Pieter single handedly brought the ISO9001:2008 and the SANS
10378 quality systems online.
